ANTIQUE HOPETOUN MODEL FULL-SIZE BILLIARD TABLE NO 4706 BY ALCOCK & CO
Price $26,000.00 inc GST
The Earl of Hopetoun acted as Governor of the colony of Victoria from 1889 to 1895. His tenure was such a success, that, when the six colonies agreed to unite as a Federation, Hopetoun was invited to become the first Governor General of Australia in 1901. During the Earl’s tenure Alcocks received permission to name a new model of Billiard Table after him – the Hopetoun model. Unfortunately, the Earl acted as Governor General for only a brief period. Owing to his early departure Alcocks made very few Hopetoun model Tables so this attractive model Table came to be regarded as a rare piece.
